WPC is a coalition of women's rights activists, grassroot organizations and NGO's and its primary strength lies in working as a network.  WPC attempts to bring together diverse voices and concerns on one platform and give due recognition to genuine concerns over women's empowerment issues.

Advocacy for effective implementation of women friendly legislation : WPC, through its members, has studied the implementation of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, the Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act, 2005, the PCPNDT Act, 1994 and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, and advocated for their effective implementation.
Gender Budgeting has been a priority area for WPC since its inception.  As part of its advocacy on implementation of women friendly legislation in India, WPC in 2009-2010 held national level workshops on gender budgeting with reference to the implementation of the Protection for Women against Domestic Violence Act, 2005.

Partnerships for advocating against child marriage WPC worked for three years  on sensitizing, advocating with and building capacity of various stakeholders so that they play the role of the change agents in combating child marriages in their respective capacities.
Advocacy on women's access and control over land: WPC worked with its members in Bihar, Orissa, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh to create awareness on land rights for women, and to form State level alliances of NGO's and individuals working on women's access and control over land holdings.
