Organization Structure.

The General Assembly (GA)

The General Assembly (GA) of WPC consists of all the members of the Governing Body, all organizational members at the grass-roots level, state level and at national level and all individual members at the grass roots level and individual level.

WPC currently has more than 900 organizational and individual members. General Assembly is required to meet once annually for completion of the following:

  1. Receive and approve Annual Report
  2. Outline future programs and prioritize programs accordingly
  3. Once every two years, elect the Governing Body and Office Bearers of the Society
  4. Review, approve and adopt (the) audited statement.
  5. Adopt or amend the rules and regulations of WPC, if required.

The Governing Body (GB)

The Governing Body (GB) is comprised of four office bearers and five regional representatives. It meets quarterly and is responsible for making all policy-related decisions, planning annual activities and planning budgets. It also ensures the effective management of the organization.

The Executive Committee (EC)

The Governing Body appoints an Executive Committee to assist it in coordination work. The Executive Committee meets monthly. Some of the roles and responsibilities of the EC are mentioned hereunder:

  • Preparation of the Society’s annual budget
  • Preparation of annual work plan of the Society
  • Ensuring the effective management of the Society
  • Be responsible for the overall vision and thrust of the Society

The WPC Secretariat

WPC’s Secretariat functions as the ground base of operations for WPC. Members of the secretariat work together to design and carry out programme schemes, carry out the lobbying initiatives of the Governing Body, organize and execute annual activities, manage accounts and information, produce WPC publications, meet and work with government agencies, and much more. The office of the Secretariatis the WPC Delhi headquarters and holds regular hours, Monday–Friday, 9.30am–6.00pm

In addition to paid staff, the WPC Secretariat also employs the skills of temporary voluntary interns. The Secretariat’s internship programme is open to all students who are committed to human rights and social justice in India. WPC has worked with interns from the United Kingdom, the U.S., Europe and India.
